I am a US and Israeli national, currently residing in Israel, and looking for opportunities outside the United States:
I grew up in Israel, studied Torah with Mikra'ot G'dolot in 8th grade, and, more recently, Talmud with Svara.
What is mine to do?
- Deepening my knowledge of Jewish tradition and re-imagining judaism.
- Promoting humanisation of all. The sentence I am hoping to use to return Israelis to their humanity is "I am sorry for your loss." Translated literally it means "I share in your sorrow" - which is precisely the sentiment I wish to share (yay NVC!)
- Offering presentations on my thoughts on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict and engage in refining our thinking about this complex and nuanced topic.
- Mourning and holding space for the pain of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.
- Support counteracting the erasure of the Palestinian people and their culture.
- Stopping violence.
- Spreading non-violence as a foundation for future reconciliation.
- Facilitating efforts to promote the end of the conflict and reconciliation.
- Liberation from patriarchy and gift economy.
Subject to change: What is not mine to do? Spreading NVC. Political action (beyond protest).
What this might look like:
- Conversations to support exploring our humanity. This is the foundation for humanising everyone in the region. And I believe that this will promote reconciliation.
- Coordinating and facilitating efforts to return Palestinian assets (such as Books).
- Organising and facilitating wisdom sharing opportunities.
- Training underserved populations in basic and intermediate computer skills.
Possible study topics:
You can see my work history on LinkedIn. I am currently retired, and can pay for my basic living expenses in most locations. I would appreciate logistical support in finding affordable housing.
The skills I bring: (in order of preference)
- Sharing wisdom (nonviolence, connection, relationship repair, humanisation)
- Deepening my work with the Women in White
- Sharing wisdom on topics where I have proficiency
- Logistical planning and coordination
- Technical skills (electronic documents and their organisation, tech training, website updates)
(used to be on this page)
Where have I been?
September 2025: Switzerland (Basel, 4 days), Berlin with a Servas host (1 day)
September-October 2025: Givatayim, Tel Aviv and Kfar Warburg (20 miles from Gaza), Israel
October-November 2025: Lisbon (1 day) and Tamera, Portugal, Women in White meeting (1 week)
November 2025: Milano, Melegnano, Dresano, and Pavia, Italy
November 2025 - January 2026: San Francisco Bay Area
January 2026: Tel Aviv. I declared that I am returning to reside in Israel (for the time being).
Where am I going?
June-August/September 2026: SF Bay Area. Seeking housing possibilities, including 2 people July 10-22
Possibilities after Septmeber: Basel and other European destinations (visa permitting: The Netherlands, UK, Italy); or the Land of Many Names (aka Israel, Palestine, ...). I welcome invitations to work for at least a month at any location; and speak on my thoughts on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.
What have I learned?
- In the US I have a diagnosis (ADHD). In Israel I am considered within the range of normal. Everywhere else I am a foreigner.
- My relationships with live people are much more complex and harder to hold with grace than those with dead people.
- I am not enthusiastic about traveling for the novelty (!). I am purpose oriented and love traveing when I have a purpose. Vacationing is a good purpose, connecting with people is a good purpose, supporting others is a good purpose.
